It's official. I'm a full-time government teacher now.
The four-month delay in getting our employment letter and posting letter has reminded me that everything happens at God's timing. When things don't go according to plan, access our situation and respond appropriately. But most importantly, pray continuously to God for discernment and His provision.
Throughout this four months, I have wavered many times in my decision on whether to stay on as a government teacher. After analyzing the pros and cons carefully, I finally decided to stay (at least for now) as this career path fulfills my financial needs, gives me great work satisfaction, and keeps me grounded to my purpose on earth.
Working as a substitute teacher for the past four months helped me to realign my focus on building students in classroom. Paperwork and 'bland' responsibilities are inevitable; but at the end, my most important tasks are developing the students' cognitive ability and building their characters. And personally, I believe in the power of learning through guided worksheets and classroom interaction.
Lastly, these four months taught me to cherish my own work and the people around me. The truth is, no matter what jobs we do, we often feel underpaid, underappreciated, and job burnout takes weeks or months to heal. So, as lame as it sounds, it's important to celebrate small successes, take pride in whatever the outcome of my hard work is, count my blessings, and share the love and support.
